Appointed as founding Dean of the academic partnership with Beijing Jiaotong University, based in Weihai China and returned to underlying professorship in LEC in 2025. Leadership roles in promoting geography and the geosciences recognised by recent awards of Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society and the Wing Ip Medal of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society. My academic research focuses on sediment delivery processes - the temporal and spatial dynamics of sediment production and transfer and the extent to which it is sensitive to environmental change and poses risk to society (such as floods, debris flows and landslides).
