Meet the Team

Portrait of Nick

Nick Morrice, AHBT Coordinator

Hi, I’m Nick and I oversee the work of the Anti Harassment and Bullying Team as Team Coordinator, alongside my substantive role in Careers as a Careers and Employment Officer. Taking positive action towards the prevention or early cessation of harassment and bullying at LU for students and staff is now something I have the immense privilege to support. In my substantive role I work within the Student and Education Services (SES) division, and I have been a staff member at LU since 2015. I help support our diverse students with one-to-one Careers support, online and in person, help run employer events for the service and deliver in person and online skills workshops throughout the year. I have had a really varied career within Higher Education over some 20 years at a number of HE institutions in the UK, working in recruitment, creative, and technical services. I love offering real insight, perspective and reassurance to empower our students and improve their employability, building an authentic rapport with my advice. As an arts graduate in the 21st century, my own Career journey has not been a straightforward one. This perspective helps hugely in my current role, and I have experienced both the very best and at times the worst aspects of working in HE in that time- having myself supported colleagues in challenging situations, and having experienced bullying in the workplace in the past. I hope my current professional skills, life experience and perspective can help and advocate for anyone facing similar challenges and contribute to the supporting work of the AHBT. Outside of work, I am a dad to two young daughters and have a deep love of the outdoors and spending time in nature.

My name is Ann-Marie Houghton and I have worked at Lancaster for nearly 30 years and was pleased to be involved in the previous informal network that supported staff and students who had questions about, or who had experienced bullying or harassment. I am aware from that experience and from friends outside the university what an impact the things people say and how they behave can have on people. During my time at the university I have been involved in a range of Equality Diversity and Inclusion groups and initiatives and am committed to working with others to challenge injustices where they occur and promoting respect and inclusion within our community.
