Current JCR Executive

All students are part of the Junior Common Room (JCR). The JCR Exec are a committee of students elected by you to be the voice of the student body and to represent your interests. Their roles are varied and aimed at ensuring all students have a positive experience through a range of events and activities organised during the year. If you have any questions regarding how the JCR can support you or have suggestions for campaigns, email bowland.jcr@lancaster.ac.uk.

Sonny Remmer-Riley - President

Hi! My name is Sonny (He/Him), I'm a Politics and International Relations student. As President of Bowland I manage our amazing JCR Exec team! Part of my job is liaising with the college staff team and the SU to ensure your views are accurately represented. As a team we aim to ensure there's a wide range of events running to make your college experience better. Having worked on LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity Campaigns throughout Sixth Form I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, and I aim to ensure Bowland is a safe space for all. I am always reachable via Teams or through the Bowland Instagram Page, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Amy Bellis - VP Activities

Hi, my name is Amy (she/her) and I study MSci Natural Sciences. This will be my third year on the JCR, and as the new VP Activities I will be responsible for creating memorable events throughout the year, specifically Welcome Week, Winter Ball, and Founders. Stephen Hubbock - VP Welfare

Hi, my name is Stephen Hubbock and I am a third year Accounting & Finance student, and your new VP Welfare. I want to help continue delivering a welcoming environment for all Bowland students! Amran Abita - International Students

Hellooo everyone, I’m Amran, second-year Astrophysics student and your new International Students Officer (big yay!!). As an international student myself, I totally get the struggle: the “do they understand my accent?” moments, the “why is the weather doing that?” confusion, and of course… the homesickness (we’ve all been there). But guess what? You’re not alone. I’m here to make sure you feel supported, included, and fully part of the Bowland chaos, in the best way possible. We’re building a little family here, a home away from home.
