Hundreds of alumni volunteer by donating their time to support the University in many ways.

From sharing your expertise, mentoring students, supporting our alumni networks or donating to our projects, there are many opportunities for you to get involved. 

How Can You Get Involved?

Mentoring

Lancaster Career Mentoring Scheme helps match experienced professionals with students, providing students with an opportunity to gain excellent career insight and advice.

Why become a mentor?

Mentoring is also an excellent opportunity for continued professional development, a great way to raise your company's profile on campus and, as the programme is competitive and the standard of applicants very high, it is also a good way to target quality student and spot talent.

You can help a student in the following ways:

  • By providing them with an insight into your specific job, industry or sector;
  • By offering advice on CVs, applications and interviews or being self-employed;
  • By assisting with their career action planning;
  • By helping them to improve employability skills such as presentations, networking and commercial awareness.

Networking

Capital Connections provides opportunities for students to travel to a city to gain excellent careers insight and advice. Students participate in workplace visits, learn about different graduate opportunities, and attend a networking session with Lancaster alumni.

Webinars are also delivered by alumni to students, to help students better understand job opportunities open to them in relation to their degree subject. We aim to represent a diverse range of sectors in these webinars and so actively seek alumni from a variety of degree disciplines.

Employment Opportunities

We are always looking for work placements for our students. If you can offer a placement or internship for our students, please contact our Alumni department.

    Group co-ordinators organise local alumni events and activities, helping to support Lancaster University's global networks.

  • Support Us

    You can donate to Lancaster University and support the fantastic work we are doing; for example, cutting-edge research, life-changing scholarships and help for at risk international academics.

  • University Advisory Boards and Committees

    You can support the University in delivering its wider mission within society. We have representatives from the local community, alumni, staff, students and other bodies with an interest in the University. Email us for further information.
